Ruispiri
Village roots
A small village in Telavi Municipality where life still moves with the seasons — vine pruning in spring, the long supra in summer, harvest in autumn. Rtoni grew here, surrounded by neighbours, vines, and the old Akaki tree.

The Story of Rtoni

~200
years of the Akaki tree
Founded by Giorgi Skhirtladze & Andro Kiknadze in Ruispiri, a quiet village in Telavi Municipality, in the heart of Kakheti. Our name comes from the Georgian word for the vine branch — the living arm that carries energy from root to fruit, from one season to the next.
A few steps from our marani stands the old Akaki tree — Judge Akaki, as the village calls him. For nearly two centuries he has watched over weddings, harvests, supras and quiet evening conversations. When the village gathers for anything that matters, it gathers beneath his branches.
We carry his silhouette on every Rtoni label. He is not an ornament. He is the witness — and, in a way, the elder — of everything we make.

“At Rtoni, every bottle begins with roots — in the vineyard, in the village, and in the stories shared beneath the old Akaki tree.”
From Ruispiri to Kakheti
To understand Rtoni, walk outward — from a single vine in our vineyard, to the lanes of Ruispiri, to Telavi's old quarter, and out across the Alazani Valley toward the Caucasus. Every glass holds a piece of this landscape.

Telavi
Just minutes from our marani, Telavi has been the historic capital of Kakheti for centuries — fortress walls, royal palaces, leafy squares, and a wine culture woven into everyday life.

Kakheti
The Alazani Valley, ringed by the Caucasus, is where Georgian wine was born more than 8,000 years ago. Sun-soaked vineyards, qvevri buried in cool earth, and tables that never seem to end.
The Philosophy of Rtoni
We don't make wine to impress a tasting note. We make wine for the table — the place where conversation slows, friends arrive, and a village finds itself again at the end of a long day.
We listen to our parcels — the sun on each slope, the depth of clay, the temper of the wind from the Caucasus. Each wine begins as a place.
We honour the Georgian way of winemaking — fermentation in clay qvevri, skin contact, time. An 8,000-year-old practice, still alive in our cellar.
No shortcuts, no cosmetics. We work the vineyard by hand and let the wine become itself, guided rather than corrected.
Boutique batches, expressive grape varieties, wines made to be poured at a long table — not measured against a chart.

What Guests Feel at Rtoni
We came for a tasting and left feeling like part of the family. The wines are exceptional, but it was the welcome that we still talk about.
An honest expression of Kakheti. The amber Kisi was unforgettable, and dinner under the vines is a memory I keep returning to.
The old tree, the qvevri, the food made by the village women — Rtoni is much more than a winery. It is the spirit of Ruispiri in a glass.
